MarkPane — Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This app is provided by craftclay ("we", "us").

2. Data we collect

We do not collect personal data from the app.

• No account registration
• No analytics SDKs
• No advertising
• No tracking across apps or websites
• No server upload of your Markdown documents

3. Markdown files and document content

Markdown files you create, open, edit, search, print, or render in MarkPane are processed locally on your Mac. This content is not transmitted to us.

If you create or edit a document, create a folder, rename a selected file or folder, move a selected file or folder to Trash, toggle a task-list checkbox, or print a document, MarkPane performs that action on your Mac using the file, folder, or printer destination you selected.

4. Local storage

MarkPane stores settings locally to make the app work the way you configured it. This may include window transparency, document surface style, rendered font family, rendered font size, rendered line height, recent window restoration state, and security-scoped bookmarks for documents you opened so the app can restore them later.

These settings stay on your device until you change them, reset app data, or uninstall the app.

5. Files and folders you choose

MarkPane accesses only files or folders you select through macOS, drag and drop, Finder, or in-app prompts. You can choose a folder to browse Markdown files, create new Markdown files and folders, rename selected folder items, and move selected files or folders to the macOS Trash, and the app may ask you to select a folder when opening a linked local Markdown file. For local images referenced by a Markdown file, the app may ask you to select the Markdown file's folder so those images can be displayed.

6. Third-party components

MarkPane uses local app components and open-source libraries for features such as Mermaid diagram rendering and MathJax-backed display math. MarkPane does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

7. Mac App Store purchase

MarkPane is distributed through the Mac App Store as a paid app. Purchases, downloads, receipts, refunds, and App Store account data are handled by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy practices. MarkPane does not receive your payment card details.

8. External links

If you open an http:// or https:// link from a Markdown document, macOS may open that link in your default web browser. External websites are governed by their own privacy policies.

9. Support communications

If you email us for support, we receive the information you include in your message, such as your email address, message content, app version, macOS version, and any attachments. We use this information only to respond to you and provide support.

10. Data retention

• App settings remain on your device until you change them, reset app data, or uninstall the app.
• Support emails are retained only as long as needed to resolve your request and maintain reasonable support records.

11. Your choices

Because MarkPane does not collect personal data from the app itself, there is typically no app-collected personal data for us to export or delete. If you want us to delete a support email thread, contact us at markpane@craftclay.com.

12. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date below.
